ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SABRINA ABBOTT

July 15 - July 31, 2021, MACC (Mather Arts and Cultural Center) RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA

Sabrina's goal is to provide viewers with the catalyst for introspection, to take a moment of solace and notice the little things that can bring unexpected meaning to our daily lives. Beyond this, her body of work tells a story of our throw-away culture, and provides a gentle encouragement to rethink our single-use lifestyle.  Through a combination of vibrant colors, hawks-eye detail, and surprising composition; her work transports the viewer into another world. Her love of art brought her to study in Florence, Italy and Paris, France where she worked in the Uffizi Museum and The Louvre. Sabrina started a global movement in 2006 called Perceptionism, or Perceptionist Art and has been prolific in painting since then.

ART OF PERCEPTION

March 19 - May 26, 2013, SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

Working in a style she calls “Perceptionist Art,” Sabrina Abbott creates bold, vibrant canvases focusing on everyday objects that range from flowers to trash. The young artist developed her unique style while studying in Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti, and continued honing her skills while working as an intern at the Uffizi museum in Florence and at the Louvre in Paris. The exhibit is the first museum retrospective of Abbott’s work and continues through May 26, 2013, only at The California Museum.

L'ART DE LA PERCEPTION

MAY 27-30, 2010, PARIS, FRANCE

Sabrina leads her creative process through many passages. For each work she chooses and defines the scope of her painting and in it she connotes a personal definition-of philosophical taste- that she calls 'perceptionism.'  Her perception and control over her ideas stem from recognition of the formal qualities of objects and aspects of nature from which she claims lost beauty and retraces it precisely with a clear and purifying eye.  Click to read more

SEGNI DI VIA MATTONAIA

NOVEMBER 29-30, 2009 FLORENCE, ITALY

A Centrifugal energy whips the superficial objects depicted in her  work which are sealed in algid, chromatic color. Sabrina is a singular personality who digs beyond what is seen in a challenge to recover some poetic quality either lost or overlooked. The colors are at the center of her expression; it excites the life force of the segments with reality that re-adapts docilely with the power of secure technique. - Dr. Giovanna Giusti
